United By 2022’s Gen22 and Ideas Made Real 2023–2024 Impact Report highlights the incredible strides made by young people across the West Midlands. Designed to break down barriers to opportunity, these programmes have empowered 577 participants—many from underrepresented backgrounds—to lead over 22,000 hours of meaningful social action.
Key achievements include:
- Confidence and Wellbeing Boost: 20.4% more young people now describe themselves as confident, with a 22.8% rise in those reporting positive mental health.
- Skills for Life: 89.1% gained new skills, and 83.1% feel better prepared for their future.
- Powerful Representation: 44.2% of participants came from the 20% most deprived areas in the UK, while nearly 1 in 5 identified as disabled, neurodiverse, or living with long-term health conditions.
- Ideas Into Action: 12 youth-led projects were funded through Ideas Made Real, empowering young people to turn their ideas into impactful community initiatives—from inclusive sports to mental health workshops.
The report shows that co-creation, inclusivity, and accessibility aren’t just principles—they’re game changers. Young people didn’t just take part—they led, created, and inspired.
