Nicola Turner

Chief Executive Officer

Following a successful run as Director of Legacy for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Nicola Turner MBE now heads the official Games legacy charity, United By 2022, as Chief Executive Officer.

Our Trustees

Drawn from the region and with expertise in a range of fields including sport, community, arts and culture, and business, our trustees are dedicated to maintaining the legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Sir David Thompson QPM DL, has had a distinguished career; Chief Constable of West Midlands Police, Chair of the Commonwealth Games Security Board, Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands, NPCC Race Inclusion and Heritage Lead, recipient of a knighthood and the Queen’s Police Medal, and most recently Chair of our Board.

Amil is a member of the Public Affairs team at the University of Birmingham, a trustee of the Warwickshire Cricket Foundations, a member of the University Hospitals Birmingham Charity Board, and was a Commonwealth Collective volunteer at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Ellie is a five-time Paralympic Champion, winner of the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year, and works with charities including the Dwarf Sports Association, WaterAid, and I AM Water. A former member of the Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee Board, and a local girl from Walsall.

Harj is Commercial Director and Co-Owner of Birmingham-based PR agency, Rewired PR. Harj is experienced in PR, governance, commercial, legal and finance matters, and also serves as a Trustee of the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust Ltd.

Alex Bishop is the National Head of Dispute Resolution and Litigation at Shoosmiths and a seasoned Board member (Birmingham Forward, Birmingham Professional DiverCity, BSEEN, and Marie Curie’s Capital Appeal).

James Rigby is Chief Executive of the SCC and Trustee of The Rigby Foundation, the group’s charitable trust. James advocates reinvestment in people and communities and takes a proactive leadership role in SCC’s charitable initiatives, with a strong focus on the development of skills and lifelong learning.

Ian is Chair of Commonwealth Games England and sat on the Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee Board and the Games Strategic Board. Ian served nine years on the Board of the RFU and served 23 years as a committee member at Warwickshire CCC, including four years as Vice Chairman.

Matt was a Corporate Finance Partner, Member of the National Corporate Finance Leadership Team, and was Head of Deals for PwC for over a 25 year career. Matt also serves as a Trustee on the Board of Suited for Success which is focussed on supporting the long term unemployed into employment.

Matt Waddell

Zeph is a Director at Microsoft UK and Chair for the EMBRACE Employee Resource Group, focused on Ethnic Minority Diversity and Inclusion. Zeph was born and raised in London and is an Aston University alumnus.
