The latest United By 2022 Volunteers Collective Impact Report shows how the spirit of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games continues to inspire community action across the West Midlands. Over the past year, the programme has enabled volunteers to deliver 26,828 hours of volunteering.
Here are some of the key things that stood out:
- Empowering Communities: Volunteers contributed over 26,000 hours of volunteering across 99 events and projects, from food banks to festivals.
- Inclusive and Accessible: 10% of volunteers identify as disabled, neurodivergent, or managing long-term health conditions. The Collective continues to prioritise accessible, flexible opportunities.
- Wellbeing Wins: 93% of participants felt they had made a meaningful contribution by volunteering.
- New Skills and Confidence: 56.7% of volunteers learned new skills as a result of their experience, and 71.3% said they had developed existing skills.
The Volunteers Collective is playing a vital role in advancing the region’s cultural and civic engagement initiatives.
