United By 2022 Launches Impact Report

Born out of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, United By 2022 was created to extend the remarkable legacy of this ground-breaking event. The Commonwealth Games were a historic moment for our region, and we knew it was essential to ensure that the energy, excitement, and pride generated by the Games would have a lasting impact. Thanks to the support of funding from the Games Legacy Enhancement Fund, we’ve been able to continue delivering meaningful projects and opportunities across the West Midlands, keeping the spirit of 2022 alive.

Working with FRY Creative, we have evaluated the impact of our work producing a full report, which you can download below. This report reflects the progress we’ve made and the ongoing efforts to ensure that the legacy of Birmingham 2022 remains a powerful force for good.

Inside, you’ll find stories of individuals and communities who have benefitted from the United By 2022 initiatives, the challenges we’ve faced, and the steps we’ve taken to make a difference.

We are proud of all we’ve achieved, but this is just the beginning. Together, we will continue to inspire pride, unity, and progress across the West Midlands for years to come.

These are just some of our impacts:

  • 2,367 events in 279 locations—reaching every West Midlands Local Authority
  • People engaged with United By 2022 activities 43,088 times — through dance, volunteering, social action & more
  • 24,270 volunteer hours by 348 people across 79 events
  • 577 young changemakers driving 22,390 hours of social action
  • 28.2% of participants from the regions most deprived areas
